It's oh so quiet!!

It rained all through yesterday night so no trapping unfortunately and even though it was a warm day today it got very nippy once the sun had gone down so not a lot of moths around tonight but I got a few interesting specimens never the less.
The trap was out from 9:30pm to 3:30am.

Tonight's Log

2 Brimstone
2 Silver-Y
4 Willow Beauty
7 Riband Wave
5 Dark Arches
1 Light Arches
2 Large Yellow Underwing
1 Lesser Yellow Underwing
3 Heart & Dart
2 Mother Of Pearl
6 Common Rustic
3 Marbled Beauty
1 Spectacle(see photo above)
1 Small Blood Vein(see photo above)
1 Yellow Shell(see photo above)
3 Uncertain

  1. Hi Ian, Can't help with first moth but second is a Small Blood Vein. Third looks like a dark specimen of Silver Y to me(I've had some this dark).

  2. Hi Karen, Thanks!....I've had a lot of Silver-Y but this one had a very different colour to the wings...a lot of pink where the grey usually is etc. It probably is just a Silver-Y but a variant specimen.
